| The above picture is Maria's River in north-central Montana where I live. I've owned this domain for 6 years now and it has served as a personal site, a place to host projects, a place for the various email addresses I use, a place that hosted my personal blog (which has since moved to its own site), and web-hosting for other people. I'm currently trying to decide what I want to do with it and the only thing I will not do is give it up. Peacefulwaters.Org is part of who I have been for 6 years and it will remain to be a part of me for as long as it fits me. I started doing webdesign in 1997 with Geocities (before Yahoo ruined it) and graduated to my college's server for a year before buying this domain in 2000. When I am not staring at the screen of my laptop, I love to read, involve myself in politics, hike, cook, do taebo, explore Montana and southern Alberta, herd my 4 very spoiled cats (I've got to have a ranch of some kind -- I have a cat ranch), get involved in various social activism things like MoveOn.Org and the One Campaign, crochet (I'm a supporter of afghans for Afghans and Project Linus), search for the perfect iced decaf non-fat vanilla latté (so far it's Prairie Peddler in Shelby), and live la vida rural. In case you can't tell, I'm Christian, more specifically Lutheran, and going down to the most finite level, I am part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. My beloved is a pastor and so are his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. I was a Religious Studies major and part of a Masters in Theological Studies, so you *really* DON'T want to argue theology with me, especially if you are nitpicking about my eschatological or soteriological stances. (If you understood the last half of that sentence, you must be a theologian. If this is the case, I fear for your mortal soul.) I read Koine Greek and Ecclesiastical Latin fluently and I can work with Biblical Hebrew pretty well, so please refrain from explaining how some passage in the Bible predicts the End Times or why I as a woman should keep my mouth shut. (In other words, I know my Bible, darn it!) In terms of my faith, I am a convert and for that reason, I have a checkered "faith background" and am influenced by Anglicanism, Evangelicalism, Catholicism, and Eastern Orthodoxy in addition to the Lutheranism I claim. I am a pacifist, a "crunchy con", a despiser of the Puppet in the White House, an eco-freak, sort-of a feminist (in that I believe in the surprising idea that as a female, I am a person worthy of respect), a Keith Olbermann fan (which means that fans of the Talking Head might want to flee with their lives), a C.S. Lewis fanatic, and just... me. Questions, comments, and concerns can be addressed to kiblermccabe @ gmail.com. |
The lovely picture of Maria's River is c/o BigSkyFishing.Com. (They require that I put that on every page this picture appears on or they get cranky.) This site is created via 1stPage2000 which is infinitely better than the FrontPage garbage produced by Micro$oft. Some of the projects/sites hosted here include: Looking Back... Looking Forward: I heart Richard. He has been a pastor/friend/sounding board for me for 4 years now. I don't know what I'm going to do if he ever gets his own domain. :) My Blogathon site: This is the site I use for the various 24-hour blogging marathons I undertake to make the world a better place. My mother-in-law's classroom syllabi: I design and host the syllabi for the community college classes that my mother-in-law teaches. I get paid handsomely and I remain her favorite daughter-in-law. (Well... I'm also her *only* daughter-in-law.) © Jennifer Kibler-McCabe |
